It appears to be most reasonable to have a contest at the time of a certain event or milestone such as a 100th post, as it signifies that contests aren’t used by their site at anytime that it looks that they would be needed to keep the site going smoothly. Sharing the ad space on their site is a worthwhile prize for those that take part, and are interested in, their site’s community.
