WordPress 2.5, havel been waiting for this next version of WordPress. Actually it was promised for last Monday but there were still some things that were not finished, Until yesterday when Matt put out the 2.5 Sneak Peek.

Note that this is Release Candidate 1 of , it is basically a BETA version. If you make frequent backups and you’re interested in helping Matt and the team with development by testing the new code, you can download here, and join their testers mailing list to report any bugs you find in the code. Personally would be wise if you do not use this for production purposes, the final version should be released on the 24th of March.

dashboard wide WordPress 2.5 is Ready to Rock

The new features:

  • A customizable dashboard: The dashboard is now more task orientated like a quick summary of what’s published and scheduled for publication, the latest comments and incoming links, blog stats, and WordPress updates and news.
  • Multi-file upload.
  • Built-in galleries.
  • Tag management.
  • Built-in Gravatars.
  • Full text feeds.
  • Faster load times.
  • One-click auto-update for plugins.

They’re also interested in feedback on the new interface and would love to hear your opinions, thoughts, rants, raves, and anything in between. They created a special email address just for the occasion: 2.5-feedback@wordpress.org.
